Empower Wellness From a Trauma-Informed Lens

GIRL, I'VE BEEN THERE

As a kid I was really active with sports, but a lot of mental health challenges got in the way of that as a teenager and young adult.

When I moved away from home in 2018, so many things changed, including my body. I was eating in a different way than I ever have and I was not incorporating exercise into my life at all. As a 5’2 woman, my weight gain was noticeable and I was really unhappy with the habits I had created and knew they needed to change.

In 2019 l started to incorporate HIIT workouts into my life and tried to move my body more often on a regular basis (always from home and not at a gym.) Outdoor walks and occasional bike rides became important to my physical and mental health, but nothing unsustainable.

2022 was the year of really incorporating strength and resistance training into my life and 2023 is when I kicked that into high gear, as I was able to have a more extensive home gym in our new home in Colorado. That’s when I decided to take my passion further and become a Certified Personal Trainer.

I fell in love with exercise and moving my body in different ways.

As a girl who was always afraid of lifting heavier weights because of the risk of “getting bulky” (not true at all), lifting heavy is what has transformed my body up until now.

I move my body now because I genuinely LOVE it. The gym is a form of therapy for me, in addition to actual therapy. I decided to become a certified personal trainer, in addition to my current career as a therapist (clinical social worker) because l’ve seen how transformative movement is for my body & my soul, and know there is a proven correlation between physical and mental health.

I can’t wait to be on this journey with you.
